Frequently asked questions.

Where do I shoot?

I live near Morehead City, North Carolina. Morehead is located across Bogue Sound from Bogue Banks, a barrier island part of the Southern Outer Banks. I also spend a significant amount of time in Dayton, Virginia. These two locations differ significantly in terms of geography and culture.

What equipment do I use?

I can be quite the nerd when it comes to camera equipment. I tend to alternate between a Canon R5 Mark II and a GFX100S II. The R5 is an absolute workhorse, offering numerous lens options. However, I do prefer the GFX for wide-angle landscapes as its colors and clarity are unmatched.

What is art school like?

I am currently in my Senior year at Arizona State University pursuing my BFA in Digital Photography. Art school has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Balancing a full-time career and a full-time academic load can be quite challenging. However, the lessons learned in art school are far beyond the skills I could have acquired on my own or through the internet. Relentless projects, thousands of pictures, and shooting required subject matter can be challenging. Sometimes I even feel like I’m not doing art but rather going through the motions for a grade. But, much like any learning environment, you must wait until the end to realize the lessons that have been learned. Critiques are the most valuable part of school, as how often in life do you get straight-up feedback about your work? Not all classes are studio. Many classes are theory, history, and multimedia development. I’ve achieved the Dean’s List every semester and intend to continue leveling up throughout my academic journey.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
